I passed German Goethe-Zertifikat B2 and French DELF B2. Particularly, I am good at the writing section. Usually, B2 level is sufficient for daily life, studying, and working in a foreign country. This time, I would like to explain how to improve writing skills to B2 level in English, German, and French languages.
In fact, I only needed a grammar textbook and Google Translate to acquire B2 level writing skills in German and French. At first, I bought a grammar textbook with audio that includes about 1,000 basic sentences. I read the book and understood the content, then wrote (or typed) these sentences many times. Sometimes, I changed these sentences, using easy words. For example, I saw a sentence in the book: “It is difficult for me to speak English, because English grammar is different from Japanese.” Then I tried to say, “It is easy for me to go to the station, because the station is not far from my house.” This practice enabled me to understand and memorize the grammar essence. This practice is also useful to improve speaking skills.

After this, I tried to write sentences for keeping a short diary as well as drafting sample answers to about 10 practice questions of B2 level language test. As you know, it is considerably difficult to write sentences in a foreign language by yourself. In fact, I often wrote sentences in English and then translated them into German and French by Google Translate. Of course, Google Translate is not perfect, thus I corrected these translated sentences, using my grammar knowledge. I also had a native checker to correct these sentences. Finally, I reviewed the completed sentences many times.

Before taking a B2 test, I read these sentences in the grammar textbook, diary, and sample answers. This is an effective method to get a passing score in the writing section at B2 level. You will get a higher score in writing than expected. If you are studying a foreign language for C1 level, I do not recommend you this method. You need to be able to write sentences without using Translation Software. I never use Google Translate to write sentences in English. I only use electronic dictionary for English writing when I need.
