First, I want to note several important points that should be considered while studying.
1. Study things in the right order. First tackle basic concepts, then move on to intermediate and then advanced learning. After that, analyze the basic concepts in more depth.
2. Read and listen, and imagine what you are learning being said; visualize concepts as much as possible.
3. Read and listen, and learn essential key words or sentences, taking no notice of other information.
4. Find out what you are required to know and understand, and to what degree you should understand it.
5. Work out what the gap is between basic concepts and your daily life, and try to close this gap.
6. Read, listen, write, and say essential key words or sentences out loud to memorize them.
7. Do not try to memorize everything at the first-time round. Rather, forget and re-memorize things over and over again.
8. Establish your optimal pace. Do not try to do too much in one day. Take regular breaks.
9. When you take an exam, imagine how you will have to work in the limited time available.
10. When you study foreign languages, begin with grammar. Rather than studying specific words and phrases, study whatever you like in this language so that you become familiar with using it.
If you have mastered the above and become used to adhering to these points over a long period of time, you should have an excellent talent for studying and you can study very effectively, regardless of what you are trying to learn. A genius is someone who has learned the most effective way of studying in his childhood without being conscious of it. Others have not. Most of you have had to master the art of studying little by little and will have to keep trying to master these points if you want to study effectively. And if you can study effectively, you can work effectively in your job, too.
